Brad Garlinghouse Linked BIS, XRPL and $11B in Gold | Here’s What’s Real

Brad Garlinghouse connected De Nederlandsche Bank’s $11 billion gold relocation with news that the Bank for International Settlements tested the XRP Ledger. But what did the BIS actually build—and did it really test XRP for institutional settlement?

The official BIS Open Tech project used XRPL DevNet to verify the integrity and publisher identity of official statistics distributed through SDMX. Its code even uses an XRPL Payment transaction that sends 10 drops of test XRP while carrying a data fingerprint in the memo. That is a legitimate institutional signal for the XRP Ledger, but it is not evidence that BIS adopted XRP for payments, connected XRPL to the Dutch gold transfer or created significant XRP demand. This investigation separates the real technical breakthrough from the narrative that formed around it.
